PCR Solar Plant Appeal | Fundraiser for Legal Costs

Posted on May 27, 2025

Barnes and Noble at Coronado Mall
June 7th, 2025
9:00 am – 8:00 pm

EMPAC is teaming up with the Turquoise Trail Regional Alliance, Turquoise Trail Communities, and members of the Puertocito-Golden Ranchers and Landowners to host a Book Fair Fundraiser at Barnes & Noble at Coronado Mall on June 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

All money raised will be used to cover legal costs connected to the PCR Solar Plant Appeal filed in the District Court against Sandoval County. This effort aims to prevent an industrial-sized solar plant and lithium battery storage facility from endangering our natural resources and changing our way of life along our Turquoise Trail Scenic Byway. An industrial-sized solar plant like the one proposed by PCR does not belong on our National Scenic Byway.

Please help support this cause by shopping at the Coronado Mall Barnes & Noble store on Saturday, June 7. Only in-store purchases will be eligible for the donation. Please present the attached voucher at checkout to make sure the funds are applied to our cause.

Sonya Benson, a member of Puertocito-Golden Ranchers and Landowners, along with her children, Bryce and Wren, will be distributing vouchers all day at Barnes & Noble.

We warmly encourage you to invite your friends and family to join us in raising funds to oppose Sandoval County’s plan for PCR’s lithium battery storage and solar plant. Depending on the purchases made with our vouchers, we have the opportunity to receive up to 10% of the day’s earnings!

If you are unable to attend the fundraising event, please consider donating via this safe online link.

You’ll find a wide selection of books, magazines, DVDs, games, toys, music, E-Readers, tablets, and more inside the store — perhaps even a Father’s Day gift for that difficult-to-shop-for guy!

Note: Gift cards purchased and purchases made at Starbucks inside Barnes & Noble will not be applied.

Spread the word!
We truly appreciate your continued support.

We need you!

If enacted, the Campbell Ranch Master Plan and the Diamond Tail Solar Project, both represent a wholesale change in the character of the East Mountains.

If you want to make a difference, now is the time – please let us know that you’re interested in preserving our lifestyle, and our natural resources.

We’d also love to hear from potential partners who share our commitment to a thoughtful and reasoned approach to development in our area.
